In his practice, Michael specifically addresses trauma-related issues in men and masculine-identified individuals, focusing on challenges such as toxic masculinity and anger management. His approach is crucial because acknowledging and treating trauma can lead to significant improvements in emotional expression and interpersonal relationships. By guiding men through the therapeutic process, Michael helps them recognize and articulate their experiences of trauma, which is often masked by societal expectations to appear strong or unemotional.
This work is vital for breaking down harmful stereotypes and fostering healthier, more open interactions with others, thereby enhancing their overall quality of life and relationships. Through his specialized use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Michael provides tools that empower his clients to engage more fully with their lives and those around them.
In 2019, alongside business partner Jody Wallace, LICSW, Michael established Advance Psychotherapy Practice. The group private practice was born from a desire to support a collaborative environment where psychotherapists can find professional growth and contribute to expert mental healthcare.
Michael earned a B.A. in Psychology from Westfield State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Springfield College School of Graduate Social Work, where he contributes as a faculty member. He is also a supporter of the community college system, holding an A.A. in Human Services from Holyoke Community College.
