Location: Northampton, Hybrid
As a therapist, Sophie creates a holding space where authenticity and self-exploration can flourish. Her work is grounded in a trauma informed, relational psychodynamic framework, with a key focus on building a trusting relationship that allows for deeper insight into both present-day struggles and long-standing patterns of behavior that may be negatively impacting a person’s current life. Sophie believes that understanding the dynamics of relationships—with oneself and others—can bring transformative clarity and healing.
Her approach is integrative, drawing on tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), art therapy, existential philosophy, and attachment theory to guide the therapeutic process. Sophie recognizes that how a person was raised, loved, and seen, as well as the systems around them, all have an impact on an individual’s mental health. Whether someone is navigating challenges in relationships, transitions in school or life, struggling with personal growth, trying to gain insight into traumatic experiences, or confronting difficult truths, Sophie is there to explore these issues alongside them, offering support as individuals work through the discomfort that often accompanies change. Sophie’s previous work experience in college counseling, psychiatric inpatient and outpatient therapy that lends well to an eclectic assortment of work experiences to best support a client’s development.
Sophie earned her MSW from Smith College School for Social Work and her BA from Bennington College.
